THEN AND NOW

What's the Connection?
by Faith Hildebrand
Aesop's fables, though they were written so long ago, still hold revelance in this day and age. They appeal to many, particularly children, and they teach valuable lessons. Readers today still gain the same wisdom that readers gained two thousand years ago. Stories such as these fables teach us how to live. What kid grows up without their parents reading to them? From such a young age, we hear stories, and they influence how we view the world. When it comes down to it, there is really no difference between the stories of literature, and the stories of our lives. We are all characters in our own stories, and the stories of those around us.

What we Take Away
by Nate Cole
Aesop told these wonderful tales of animals discovering life lessons in the world of fiction. But that's not what we as readers would gather from this. What we take away is the life lessons that hold true in each day of our life. From knowing that greed and gratitude are nothing alike, to learning that a kindness is never wasted, no matter what quantity it is in. These are the things that are truly passed down from generation to generation. These are the things that we as people still take away after two thousand years.
